The source of your identity
One of the things Made for Dominion does is help men become established in their identity.
And this is important because it’s out of his identity a man discovers his purpose and meaning in the world.
Today men are seeking to find their identity in a variety of places.
Including their:
-Achievements
-Work
-Reputation
-Alma Mater
-Association with a political party or social group
-Roles like a husband or father, business owner or church leader
-Money or possessions
-Appearance or Image
Sometimes…
People will also locate their identity in addictive behaviors… or their
illnesses.
And, today we have more people connecting their identity to their race, gender, and being a victim.
We all can be tempted to find our identity in any of
these areas because of the payoff it brings…
… because we like, perhaps, the feeling of significance it gives.
But all of these areas fall short as an ultimate source
of identity.
God created man with an identity as His image bearer…
And He made us to get dominion with Him in the world.
This is fundamental to a man’s identity.
And when a man internalizes this, believes it, and acts upon it, he is in a position to fulfill the purpose God has for him.
