Merry Christmas from MfD!
"And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world" (1 Jn. 4:14).
As we celebrate the incarnation of Jesus Christ...
Let us remember Jesus did not only come as the Savior of our souls.
He was born to save the whole world!
The ancient heresy known as gnositicism teaches that the physical world is inferior to the spiritual world...
And that the ideal of human existence is to escape the body and trappings of our physical nature.
But God -- who created heaven and earth -- made all things good.
Actually, very good.
Sin tainted God's good creation... which explains the afflictions we endure.
But Jesus came to save the world.
This means the tangible things we do matter and have significance.
Whether it be through the unique vocations God gives us...
Our everyday acts of caring and service...
Or the sharing of gifts and gathering around a table for Christmas.
These are all part of glorifying God in the world He's created and is redeeming through His Son, Jesus Christ.
And...
Treasuring this truth about the incarnation changes how we do life.
Every day.
May
His hope, peace and joy be yours today and always.
Merry Christmas!
