Staying focused
Staying focused can be incredibly difficult these days...
As we constantly face distractions that lead us away from focusing on whatever God has given us to do.
These distractions are common to all of us and range from:
Worries… to news… to our phones… and much more.
But…
Though the bombardment of distractions seems never-ending, we can evade them…
… by applying a principle from the Bible’s most familiar verse about overcoming temptation.
1 Corinthians 10:13 says:
No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure
it.
Here the Bible presents temptation as a test:
Will you give way to the temptation you are facing or will you use the way of escape God provides?
This applies to ordinary tests involving pride, greed, lust, etc…
And…
It also applies to…
Distractions
So next time you’re having a hard time staying focused.
Look for a way of escape…
… so you can keep to the work or activity God has for you.
It helps if you recall He has planned for you to do something only you can fulfill.
And, remember also…
He intends you to:
Serve Him without distraction (1 Cor. 7:35).
You can -- with God's help -- maintain your focus.
