There's more going on than meets the eye
Recently I read through I and II Kings and I and II Chronicles.
This time through, two things stood out to me.
First, most of Israel’s kings were bad.
Second, despite this God continued to advance His purposes.
This shouldn’t surprise us.
The Bible explicitly states God deposes kings and raises others up (Dan. 2:21).
And that the kingdoms of this world shall be broken to pieces, while He is setting up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed (Dan. 2:44).
The gospels tell us further that His kingdom works like leaven in bread or a small seed that grows into a tree (Matt. 13:32,33).
So though on the
surface we may see a lot of chaos and upheaval, there is more going on than meets the eye.
Underneath it all God is working and moving His plan forward.
Slowly.
But surely.
And this plan is one of total redemption.
So take care to look not merely on the things that are seen, but the unseen.
And let us…
Spend less time whining and worrying about how bad things are…
And more time planning, fixing, creating and building…
As we remember Him who rules over all.
“Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power
and the glory and the victory and the majesty, for all that is in the heavens and in the earth is yours. Yours is the kingdom, O Lord, and you are exalted as head above all” (1 Chron. 29:11).
