You have more in common with your neighbor than differences
Each week I have the privilege of training a group of pastors in Pakistan.
We meet via the online platform, Zoom.
These pastors live in very different circumstances than most people I’m acquainted with.
They serve in a country where persecution is an ongoing concern.
They do church on
rooftops!
And they lack so many of the conveniences we enjoy in the West.
Yet despite the differences, we have far more in common.
We all share concerns about our families, finances and futures.
We have similar personal struggles and temptations.
And most importantly…
We have a common source of hope in the grace that’s ours through Jesus Christ.
My experience with my Pakistani pastor friends
has been eye-opening.
I have probably learned more from them than they have from me!
And most significantly...
I’ve been reminded in a powerful way that we image-bearers of God are all wired the same… no matter what our situations.
In a divided world and culture this is something to remember.
Our fallen nature tends to have us focus on how others are different from us–which creates barriers and leads to division.
… And there are some in our world who like to feed this division for their own gain.
But what if we looked at others and saw the ways we’re the same?
And viewed them as having the
same Creator, same call to dominion, same struggles with the flesh, same need for God’s grace?
In a world filled with conflict, it might help us live as ambassadors of reconciliation (2 Cor.
5:16-21).
And put us in a better place to further God’s kingdom, wherever He has us.
Get Dominion,
