You need friends
The dominion mandate is meant to be a collaborative
effort.
Not a solitary one.
Yet the culture – especially via our dependence on screens – pushes us to function in isolation.
The devil must love this…
Seeing that God doesn’t intend for us to go at it alone… and to do so makes us vulnerable.
You will never be all God has in mind for you without friends.
God made us finite, social beings… so we need others.
And thanks to friends…
We see more clearly, are sharper, and stronger.
Society glamorizes the one who fights through and makes it on his own.
But this is not
ordinary. And usually unhealthy.
Friends help expose our self-deceptions — which we all have, and lead us down wrong roads.
Friends also give needed grace, serving as a buffer in a hard world.
Plus, friends get you headed in the right direction when you stumble or are in a dark place.
So make sure to put a
priority on friendships.
Resist being a loner.
And if you don’t have someone (preferably two or three someones) that you can call in the middle of the night, work on fixing that.
“Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up!” (Eccl.4:9-10).
