Sorry I missed
you yesterday. The service I use to send my MfD emails was down all day. Hopefully it's good to go now!
One of the more destructive forces of our time is apathy.
Apathy says "I don't care anymore" and gives up.
Apathy promises to protect your heart from life's disappointments.
But does so at the cost of
isolating from humanity--and God.
If allowed...
Apathy will lead you to miss opportunities to do good...
And if it persists will waste your life...
All while watching your culture disintegrate.
The antidote to apathy is love.
Apathy asks, "What does it matter?"
Yet love keeps on caring.
Love faces disappointments differently than apathy...
Not with cynicism and passive indifference...
But with perseverance and hope.
And it does so by staying connected to people and God.
Out of this connection love takes risks, initiates and intervenes.
Resulting in the building up of what's
been broken.
All this is possible because God is a God of love--not apathy.
And it started with the love He showed us in sending His Son to redeem the world.
Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord. Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality (Rom. 12:9-13).
