A few years ago I
read a book called The Power of Full Engagement.
The main point I remember from the book was...
Managing your energy is more important than managing your time.
This profound point has stuck with me.
Because how well we manage our limited energy certainly affects how well we manage the
different domains God calls us to oversee and develop.
Now if you look in the Bible, you'll find it doesn't mention energy much... at least explicitly.
But it does warn us to avoid...
... anger, bitterness, lust, worry. etc. -- which all consume huge amounts energy.
The Bible also gives us the example of the
Apostle Paul...
Who who struggled mightily through the energy of Christ working in him to fulfill his God-given mission (Col. 1:29).
And, it is not a stretch to say Jesus excelled in managing His own energy...
... by exercising self-mastery as He lived in constant communion with His Father.
So my message
for you today is...
Take care how you spend your energy.
You only have so much of it.
You will face
choices all day about how you expend your energy.
So be careful how you burn it.
Beware of attitudes and actions that consume it fruitlessly.
Put your energy to good use.
Focus it on fulfilling God's call on your life.
