None of us know
what a new year will bring.
And if we are not careful this can lead to a lot of anxious navel-gazing.
Yet if we hold onto these four truths, we can enter 2023 with humble confidence as we faithfully pursue our place in the world...
1) God continues to rule.
No matter how chaotic the world and our lives may seem, God is at work in every detail.
"The LORD has established His throne in the heavens, and His sovereignty rules over all" (Psa.
103:19).
2) His word remains a trustworthy guide.
In a culture of lies and misinformation, the surest way to find direction and freedom is to abide in God's word.
"The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever" (Isa. 40:8).
3) There is always hope because God is redeeming the world.
The birth, death and resurrection of Christ is the pivot point of history, making the
trajectory of the world one of renewal and redemption.
“Behold, I am making all things new" (Rev. 21:5).
4) God has a purpose for you.
With the new year comes fresh opportunities to use your time, talents and treasure to advance God's kingdom.
"For we are
his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them" (Eph. 2:10).
No matter what twists and turns or highs and lows you encounter in
the next 12 months, you can know total security by anchoring your life to these four truths.
This will also maximize your fruitfulness for God.
Trust in the LORD with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths.
