Promises from God
The promise of Advent has come. Emmanuel is here.
Jesus is with us.
Now we await one more Advent: His Second Coming.
Yet, while we long for Him to return during these increasingly dark days, hope seems to ebb slowly away. You can feel it.
But now is not the time to lose heart or give up.
The Christmas story--which we just celebrated--is full of hope.
Like Mary before us, we need to trust God and believe as she did when the angel Gabriel confirmed His plan for her...
“Every promise of God shall surely come true” (Lk. 1:37 TLB).
The Bible is rich in promises made by God to us.
There are literally hundreds of them that men and women can claim as their own.
To receive them requires simple child-like faith and obedience.
God promises He will guide us through life...
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” (Jer. 29:11).
God promises He will help us endure and overcome...
“But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus,
after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you” (1 Pet 5:10).
Jesus promises He will always be here...
“…I am with you always, until the end of the age” (Mat 28:20b).
May the richness of God's promises propel you into the year ahead with renewed hope...
And a
clear vision of how He can use your life to bring light to the world.
