Spring training
for baseball has begun.
And ball players are focusing on the fundamentals of the game.
Most basic of which is:
Keep your eye on the ball.
This is a good metaphor for the lives we live.
We must keep our eyes on the Lord.
This is fundamental to everything.
It's when Peter took his eyes off the Lord... and became consumed with the winds around him... that he began to sink (Mt. 14:30).
Distractions and fears constantly threaten to undo us.
Yet God's grace is sufficient.
To not only sustain us...
But strengthen and encourage for the good works He has called us to do.
We only need to keep looking to Him, and trusting Him.
So no matter what challenges may weigh heavy on you...
Keep looking to the Lord.
Fix your eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of your faith (Heb. 12:2).
Mastering this fundamental of the faith is essential to fulfilling the purpose God has for you.
And it's in keeping your eyes
on Him that you're able to see His record of grace in your life.
