In the beginning
the serpent made a big promise...
Disregard your Maker... do what seems right to you... and you will be like God (Gen.3:5).
This sounded good to Eve.
It's how she wanted to build her life.
So she took the bait, and led her husband to do the same.
But it was all a lie.
So instead of possessing God-like status and power...
Adam and Eve ended up ashamed and disconnected from their only source of life and
wisdom.
Which is God.
This same scenario is repeated every day in the hearts of millions...
We all face the
same choice...
Will we live trusting God or do what seems right in our own eyes?
It's a constant struggle.
Made exceedingly difficult by a culture that seeks to erase every
input of God from our memory and conscience.
But we must not forget...
Something is different now.
And better for us.
God sent a second Adam--Jesus.
Who did not fall for the devil's lies.
Because He didn't, He was able fulfill His mission to redeem and save all who trust Him.
And after He finished His work here, He left us His Spirit.
Which means...
He's taken away our shame...
Restored our connection to Father...
And put us in a place to say no to lies and yes to Him.
Which we must do.
God created you to build something, with Him and for Him.
And you can only do this according to
the truth.
You can't build anything upon lies...
You can't build a marriage on lies.
You can't
build a business on lies.
You can't build a culture on lies.
The only foundation is the truth of God.
So
let me encourage...
As you spot lies arising in your own heart...
Or see them spewing out of our culture.
Reject them.
Cling to the truth.
And keep working faithfully--by His grace--at whatever God has given you to do.
"Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them is like a wise man who built his house on the rock" (Mt.7:24).
