C.S. Lewis once
made the point that to love at all is to be vulnerable.
And he went on to say that if you love anything your heart will be wrung and possibly broken.
We can protect ourselves by getting wrapped up in hobbies and little luxuries, and avoid all entanglements.
But if we lock up our hearts in coffins of selfishness, they'll become hard.
They may not break, but they won't engage the goodness that makes life worth living.
And you will lack the heart you need to fulfill your role in God's kingdom.
Loving will get you hurt. It will cost you.
But to love is the only way to accomplish God's glorious intent for you in this world.
