Since He was born
a baby...
Jesus must have had a time when He came to understand His identity and purpose...
That He was not a mere man...
But the Son of God who came to save the world.
We don't know when Jesus understood this...
... but according to Luke, it must have happened by the time He was a boy (Lk. 2:42ff).
Nor can we say what Jesus thought when this realization took place...
... yet based on His words in the temple as a
twelve year old, He must have quickly embraced who He was and why He was born.
Well...
Just as Jesus had to perceive His identity and purpose as a man, so must we grasp our own.
We must know our identity comes from...
... being created by God.
... made in His image.
... and adopted as sons through faith in Christ.
And...
We must also know our purpose comes...
... not from ourselves.
... but from Him.
... and His commission to rule and cultivate the world with Him.
The day this sinks in...
And defines who you are...
And what you're supposed to do...
Is the day that changes your life.
