A friend told me
about something amazing he and his wife witnessed while on vacation out West.
They were sitting on the balcony of their condo watching a herd of caribou in front of a peaceful sunset...
When all of a sudden...
A grizzly bear emerged, snagging one of the caribou and dragging it into the woods for dinner.
My friend noted how quick and easy this was for the grizzly...
Because...
The caribou he went after was lagging from rest and alone.
Now if you think about this...
It is the perfect picture of a lot of men.
So many men live their lives in isolation.
Disconnected from others.
So they are constantly alone with their thoughts, fears, temptations, etc...
The devil loves this.
He is always looking for someone to devour (1 Pet. 5:8).
And those who are alone are easy pickins.
So if you tend to be a loner...or are lonely...you need to do something about it...
... for your own preservation, well-being and growth.
Don't just hope and wait for your situation to improve.
Be pro-active to address this...
Start by asking God to help you know what to do.
This may lead to calling someone you know...
Or getting together with somebody for lunch.
But ultimately it should lead to the formation of a group of friends--a band of brothers.
God did not design
you to do life alone.
He made us--first--to do life with Him.
But also in community with others--hence the importance of marriage, family, church and other associations.
So take a step to get better connected today.
Don't let yourself get left doing life on your own.
This is serious.
Loners get eaten.
