In one of our
Made for Dominion groups a guy shared a unique way that he prays for his kids:
He prays Proverbs 22:29 over them.
That verse reads:
"Do you see a man skilled in his work? He will stand before kings."
Praying for your kids to excel in their skills is a really good idea.
According to a recent survey, 86% of young adults today want to become major influencers on a social media platform...
Which is another of saying... they want to make a lot of money by having loads of people watch them share their opinions on a video.
Wanting to have influence is not a bad thing.
God desires us to have an effect on the
world.
But as we read the Bible...
We see God has designed influence to come through the mastery of skills, employed in the service of others -- not merely by getting a lot of eyeballs on your latest TikTok video.
Which brings me back to my friend's way of praying for his kids...
Praying for your
own kids to develop and master their skills can be a great way to help them get focused on serving others by honing the gifts God has given them...
It can also help them figure out a way to make a
living... and advance God's kingdom too.
