I've got a movie
for you worth seeing...
Last weekend my wife and I watched Something the Lord Made.
It tells the story of a white surgeon and his black assistant in their pioneering work of cardiac surgery.
Beginning in the Depression Era, the narrative provides a lot of insights about race relations... and shows that, thankfully, we've come along way.
But the real message of the movie is about how God used a humble lab assistant to develop medical procedures that continue to save lives today.
As I
watched the story unfold, several lessons from the life of the assistant, Vivien Thomas, impressed me.
These were...
... a willingness to serve in a low place, without recognition.
... the need to know your gifts and how you can make your greatest contribution to the world.
... and a commitment to work
hard and persevere in the place God ordains for you.
If you like inspiring movies that reveal the importance of character...
And gets you thinking about your own role in God's world...
I recommend watching Something the Lord Made.
It's based on real history.
And I give it five stars.
