Recently I was
reading the Good Shepherd passage where Jesus says:
"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly" (Jn.10:10).
While reading this the Spirit got me thinking how American culture is being ravaged and robbed because of its rejection of Jesus...
Just think about the problems concerning us today...
> The advance of socialism, the inflationary spending, the looting in America's cities...
> The random shootings, the targeting of
police, the increase in suicides...
> The perverse sexualization of children, the general acceptance of lawlessness, and now even the destruction of famous art.
Is this not the work of a thief out to steal, kill and destroy?
We don't tend to realize how Jesus -- or the absence of Jesus -- determines the kind of culture we live in.
But it's not hard to see when we connect a few dots.
And it reveals...
If we want to stop getting robbed, we need to follow Jesus.
And we need to be unashamed to tell others they need to follow Him too.
The good news...
Through all our trouble he never stops offering us life... and an abundant one at that.
