To fulfill the
purpose God has for your life right now you must know how to deal with your regrets.
Otherwise you will simmer in a stew of self-pity, frustration and aimlessness...
... rather than accomplish the good God has specifically ordained for you to carry out during your days.
Fortunately, there are two basic Christian doctrines that make overcoming regret accessible to anyone who believes them.
The first is the doctrine of justification by faith.
This is the familiar truth that if your faith is in
Christ, God views you as righteous because of the faithfulness of His Son (Rom.5:1).
And as a result... you are forgiven, no longer under any condemnation and free to live without the burden of
guilt.
There is a good chance you have heard this in some form or fashion dozens if not hundreds of times.
But what matters is believing it is true for you.
Because it's only in believing this is true for you that you receive justification's remedy for your regret and enjoy the freedom to move on.
The
second great doctrine for overcoming regret is sanctification.
Sanctification is God's ongoing process of actually making you more righteous.
The ultimate goal of this is to become like Christ (Rom.8:29-30).
And the great assurance is that one day we will (Phil.1:6).
What's important day to day is
remembering that sanctification is a process God is working out over time.
If you forget this, any failure can quickly put you back in the pit of misery and regret.
But as you remember God is still at work, you can get up every time you stumble...
... knowing your standing before Him is secure in Christ, and knowing that He is not finished with you.
Justification and sanctification are like two wings on a bird -- you need both to be free to fly and live out God's design.

this my friend.
It's God's way for you to overcome regret... and get on with the purpose He has for you.
