I have a friend who has a window washing business.

He often posts pictures of his finished work on social media.

As he does, he speaks glowingly of the fulfillment he gets from transforming a home or office building through the clean windows he's provided.

He captures well the spirit of the verse in Ecclesiastes which says:

"... there is nothing better than that a man should rejoice in his work, for that is his lot" (Ecc.3:22).

Some Bible translations use the word 'activities' instead of 'work' in this verse...

... which is helpful because it shows the breadth of everyday tasks in which we can find joy.

God made us to do things.

And one of the greatest sources of satisfaction in our crazy fallen world is to faithfully put your all into whatever God has given you to do...

And enjoy it!

In fact, I think it's fair to say...

If you aren't having fun doing what God has allotted to your hands, you're likely not doing it right.

To rejoice in your labor is a gift of God (Ecc.5:19).

If you struggle finding enjoyment in your daily grind, make sure you are doing it all unto the Lord (Col.3:23)...

As you do, I believe satisfaction will come.
