Christians tend
to be perpetual underdogs.
Always outmanned and outfinanced by the powers that be.
Yet over time, like yeast in bread, they bring about positive change.
One of my favorite examples of this comes from believers at the end of the Roman Empire.
When Rome finally fell, it was the often persecuted Christians who
picked up the pieces.
And as they did, they laid the foundation of a new civilization...
... which led to a new respect for humanity and improved quality of life.
How did they do it?
By loving service.
So while everyone around them was either fighting or paralyzed by fear, they were showing love to neighbors and creating what became new institutions.
The example is a good one for our own day.
At
a time when decadence is surging, it can seem like nothing can turn the tide.
But...
What you can't outfight you can outlove.
And service carried out in love can bring remarkable results.
Where would God have you put this into practice in your situation?
"Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things..." (1 Cor. 13:7).
