I am always looking for ways to be more prayerful and dependent on God--as opposed to just going off and doing life on my own.

Here is a simple idea that's helped me and may help you...

We are made in the image of God but are not God Himself...

Because we are in His image and not God, our dominion over anything is always dependent on Him.

In other words... 

We can never get dominion in the way God wants us to independently from Him.

Jesus made this point when He said:

"He who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing" (John 15:5).

So to really be fruitful in your efforts to rule and cultivate the domains of your life, you have to abide in Jesus.

We abide in Him by praying.

And this means talking to God about all kinds of things through the day...

... Father, help me figure out this spreadsheet.

... Lord, allow me to understand what this person really needs so I can help.

... Spirit, fill me now so I have the ability and courage to do the right thing.

Praying this way is to fulfill the Apostle Paul's instruction to "pray without ceasing" (1 Thess. 5:17).

And it is thee way to depend on God, constantly be renewed, stay on course...

... and fulfill whatever God calls you to do as fruitfully as possible.
