The most common time of year for people to evaluate their lives and consider changes is around New Year's.
The second most ordinary occasion is summertime.
There's something about the slower pace and lazy days of summer that gets people thinking about where their lives are headed.
The focus of such ruminations usually involves one's work and how time is spent.
But it should also include your legacy.
Most of us don't think enough about the mark we want to leave on the world.
But we ought to give this attention, as God created each one to have an effect for His kingdom.
When it comes to your own legacy, here are three areas to consider:
1) Your worldview
Is your view of the world shaped by an all-loving and all-powerful God, or something else? What would those who know you say?
2) Your character
What kind of influence is your character -- including personality, values, manner of living, etc. -- having on others?
3) Your property
In what ways are you using your stuff to advance God's kingdom?
Give some thought to these areas...
... and realize that adjusting your life accordingly can make a big difference when it comes to the lasting impact you have.
Don't let summer go by without pondering your legacy before the Lord.
"Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom" (Ps.90:12).
