Here is the
latest addition to my quote collection...
"Obscurity may very well be the spiritual discipline the American church needs to practice the most in the coming century."
~Katelyn Beaty
And here is a short commentary on the quote...
We live in an age of celebrity.
This is a problem for those
seeking to be faithful to God's call on their lives, because:
1) It leads you to think only well-known Christians are really serving God in a meaningful way.
2) It tempts you to put status seeking and people pleasing over faithfulness.
3) It leaves you believing that whatever God has called you to do isn't important or worth pursuing.
The only way to overcome the danger our celebrity age presents us with is to get comfortable living in obscurity...
... to be okay serving God without
recognition and find that pleasing Him where He has you is enough.
“Beware of practicing your righteousness before men to be noticed by them; otherwise you have no reward with your Father who is in
heaven (Mt.6:1).
