Ever get
demoralized?
And when you do does it keep you from following through on the good God has called you to do?
Well you aren't alone.
Feeling disheartened and being slowed down... or even stopped... by lagging morale is an age-long problem.
Nehemiah faced it when he was rebuilding the wall of Jerusalem.
In fact, Nehemiah's enemies actually had a campaign to demoralize his men to the point they would quit the project.
But the people persevered and completed the wall... because in the words of scripture, they "had a mind to work" (Neh.4:6).
The Hebrew word for 'mind' here literally means 'heart'...
...
it conveys the idea that those who overcome discouragement have the feeling, the intellect and the will to keep going.
In a day when there's so much to demoralize us, this an important point to
recognize.
Struggling with our own weaknesses is bad enough.
But when you add a crazy culture, corruption, and constant pressure to give up your convictions, feeling demoralized can come easily.
Yet don't lose heart.
Pray.
Dwell on God's Word to increase your faith.
And stay connected to others who have enjoined the battle so you may persevere...
The devil and his minions would love for you to roll
over, quit, even die.
But don't... God has already won the victory to reclaim all of creation.
It's been said a big part of winning is showing up.
Well here's a biblical variation of that...
A big part of fulfilling your place in God's world is to have a heart to keep doing His work.
