I love how some
quotes sum up the state of the world.
Like this one from the economist Thomas Sowell:
"We seem to be getting closer and closer to a situation where nobody is responsible for what they did but we are all responsible for what somebody else did."
These words really hit the mark because of their insight on the human condition when it comes to responsibility.
Ever since the fall of Adam humans have resisted taking personal responsibility... and have expected others to clean up their messes for them.
The more this situation prevails in a culture, the more exasperating, dysfunctional and fruitless that society becomes.
But this isn't irreversible.
By His grace, Jesus took responsibility for our sin when He went to the cross.
And when we recognize we are responsible for putting him there... and receive His free offer of forgiveness... He renews us to function responsibly in His Father's world.
Taking responsibility is essential to fulfilling the part God gives each of us in the dominion mandate.
It's also at the forefront of turning any situation around.
And believing the gospel puts us in a fresh place to embrace whatever responsibility He gives us.
Get Dominion,
