Though often
misunderstood, the Puritans were happy warriors who did much to advance God's kingdom.
I once heard them described as a people who had swallowed a compass... because they were always well-oriented as to
what was true and false, good and bad, right and wrong, etc.
The Puritans had what you might call an excellent internal guidance system.
And they honed it by living their lives for the glory of God... and developing their character through a commitment to scripture and prayer.
Without a doubt, this allowed the Puritans to navigate their world faithfully and leave a lasting mark for God.
Recalling the Puritan's legacy challenges us to reflect upon our own internal guidance system.
What is it
that guides you in the way you view your world and make decisions?
The temptation is to fall back on the latest poll, current fashions or politically correct dogma.
But to stay true and fulfill your calling in this age, you need a reliable internal guidance system...
And that's something you can develop...
You do it by constantly and prayerfully applying God's principles to your circumstances -- every day.
"Make me to know your ways, O Lord; teach me your paths. Lead me in your truth and teach
me..." (Ps.25:4).
