There is a
video out that has Tom Brady serving as the director of a Hertz commercial.
As the commercial gets rolling, Brady calls 'cut' and shares an epiphany:
“So you’ve been working at the same job for 22 years, right, you’re just not feeling it anymore... so you retire, and that’s when it hits you, ‘maybe all you needed was a vacation.'”
The commercial is funny because of Brady's own short-lived retirement.
But it also makes an important point for anyone weary from their calling...
Maybe you just need a break.
People are now 'on' all the time.
There used to be a shared rhythm to life where you could shut down and get a breather from your work and responsibilities.
But now -- largely due to technology and working remotely -- engagement is constant.
We tend to never shut down... and that means there's little time to renew.
God didn't make us to live such a way.
It's why He created day and night.
It's why there's a weekly day of sabbath rest.
An it's why Jesus constantly was getting alone with His Father.
God establishes these patterns for our good... and you'll be made stronger by incorporating them in your life.
After Elijah's great victory over Jezebel and the prophets of Baal, he was exhausted and depressed... he even wanted God to take his life (1 Kings 19).
So what did God do for him?
He gave him a nap and a meal!
If you've lost your mojo, feeling fried or at your wits end, don't give up yet.
It could be you just need a break.
