The Bible's solution for cultural darkness
 

Is there a solution for our ongoing cultural decline?

There is.

But we shouldn't expect to overcome our culture's darkness until Christians become more confident they should be bringing their light to the world in the first place.

Too often believers assume that culture is neutral territory, where applying biblical principles isn't allowed...

Or they've been led to think that laboring to transform the society around them is somehow contrary to saving souls...

And sadly... without a biblical mission to address cultural concerns, conforming to surrounding ungodliness tends to result.

Yet believers should have no doubt... building a thoroughgoing gospel culture is a worthy and biblical pursuit.

The basis for this goes back to the beginning when God told Adam to 'cultivate and keep' the garden (Gen.2:15).

With these words the Lord gave humanity a charge to build a culture in keeping with His Word.

And the garden was to serve as the starting point -- or seed -- of a godly culture that would ultimately fill the world.

Which means today... every endeavor under the sun ought to increasingly reflect His glory... including business, law, education, technology, health care, the arts, etc.

Of course... the Fall made it impossible for us to accomplish any of this on our own...

But the Father has given us His Son and Spirit that His plan for a restored creation would be fulfilled.

You are the light of the world... Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven (Mt.5:14,16).
