I always try to remind myself...
It's far easier to say what you're against than what you're for -- so think through what you're for!
Critiquing comes easily. We do it all the time!
But coming up with a constructive vision for something better is harder.
And the difference between the two really matters!
Mastering fault-finding leads only to division and ruin.
But providing life-giving alternatives heals and builds up.
So the challenge is to work on knowing, articulating and acting on what you're for!
If you don't know where to begin with this, here are a few ideas (all flowing right out of the dominion mandate and the gospel)...
1) Be for: Every image-bearer of God you know fulfilling his or her role in God's plan to rule and cultivate the earth for His glory.
2) Be for: God's grace and redemption to touch and transform the lives of all who are guilty, confused, hurt, fearful and angry.
3) Be for: The growth of God's new creation, where His kingdom would come and His will would be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
This is a good place to start.
And keep in mind as you apply these...
Critics are a dime a dozen... but advocates for positive, biblical solutions are rare, valuable and needed.
Be the latter, not the former.
