Now that the U.S. Supreme Court has overturned Roe v. Wade, the fight for life enters a new chapter.
As this phase begins, let's remember this battle is essentially a spiritual one.
At the time of creation God both designed and commanded human beings to flourish.
With the fall of Adam death entered the world, and humans started viewing one another as cheap and disposable.
But God has long been at work to redeem this culture of death through His people.
We see this in the Hebrew midwives who refused to follow the order of Pharaoh to drown baby boys.
And we especially see this movement toward life in Jesus...
... who not only had His own life preserved as an infant, but willingly shed His blood as a man so we would live -- fully and eternally.
In the months and years ahead much attention will be given to pro-life politics -- and this has an essential place.
But the political wrangling sure to come should never overshadow the reality that the struggle for hearts and minds is a spiritual one.
And lasting victories for life will only come as enemies of God become friends of Jesus.
In Him is life, and He is the light of men (Jn.1:4)
