The Bible's view of the future is optimistic.
It tells us "the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD as the waters cover the sea" (Hab.2:14).
Do you find this hard to believe?
Does your view of today's world make this seem like an impossibility?
Well let's look at the numbers... because the numbers, as they say, don't lie.
In 100 AD the world population was 250 million, with a million Christians, making for a ratio of 250/1.
In 1500 the population hit one billion and the ratio to believers improved to 100/1.
In 1900 the global population reached two billion and the ratio lowered to 27/1.
In 1950 we had a population of 3 billion and a ratio of 20/1.
And today?
The world population is 7.9 billion, with 2.6 billion identifying as Christians, leading to a ratio of 3/1!
Indeed, there's a lot of discipling to be done for God's glory to increase, but take heart...
... when we keep the big picture in mind, there's reason for optimism.
All the ends of the earth shall remember and turn to the Lord,
and all the families of the nations shall worship before you.
For kingship belongs to the Lord, and he rules over the nations.
~ Ps.22:27-28
