God's Word may be hard to understand in some areas, but it sure speaks clearly about the dangers of pride.
It tells us things like...
"When pride comes, then comes disgrace..." (Pr.11:2).
And...
"Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall" (Pr.16:18).
And...
“God opposes the proud..." (Jas.4:6).
With verses like these, living in a land that encourages pride and celebrates what God calls evil is distressing.
But let us not be overcome by a spirit of defeat...
And instead of just enduring Pride Month and wishing that rainbows would quit being misused, let us come up with something constructive to pursue.
For instance...
A friend has declared: “June is Read Romans 1 Every Day for a Month, Month"... as a way to develop a more biblical worldview concerning 'pride.'
Other ways to respond might involve using the month to focus on humility, repentance or sexual purity.
Or... maybe learn more about the human trafficking industry and support a group that's addressing this problem.
The idea here is to live out the Bible's admonition:
Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good (Rom.12:21).
