Temptation's goal is to get you off course... to keep you from the good God intends for you.
We see this in the way the seductive woman tries to lure a young man from his path in Proverbs (Pr.6,7).
And we see it in the traps the devil laid before Jesus in the wilderness (Mt.4).
In both cases you have a man minding his business and temptation comes seeking to lead him away from it.
Temptation still works the same way.
So when you're tempted, there's a high likelihood you're ALREADY in the place you should be -- and you ought to stay there.
The nature of temptation is to draw you away.
So when temptation makes its appeal to you... in whatever form...
"Do not let your heart turn aside to her ways, Do not stray into her paths..." (Pr.7:25).
Stay on the course God has for you.
