Good Friday and Tax Day share the same date this year.
Let this encourage you if you owe taxes...
Though you may hate having to send money to the IRS, rejoice -- your greatest debt has already been paid.
Jesus has canceled out the certificate of debt held against us because of our sins (Col.2:14)...
In its place God's given us forgiveness...
... and delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son (Col.1:13-14).
Nothing is more liberating than this.
Being up to date on your taxes doesn't even come close.
But there's a sobering aspect to this redemption Christ brought us...
He accomplished it by suffering a cruel and undeserved death on the cross.
The Apostle Peter puts it this way:
"He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed" (1 Pet.2:24).
Notice the great exchange here...
His life for ours...
His wounds for our healing.
How do you respond to such love?
You respond with an exchange of your own...
By dying to sin and living to righteousness...
By living all your life for Him.
"For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s" (1 Cor.6:20).
