The Bible presents God as a deliverer of His people.
This isn't just an abstract idea.
Nor is it merely about transportation to heaven after death.
God delivers those who call on Him from their present world troubles...
He heard the cries of His people in Egypt and brought them out of their bondage.
He saw the faith of Daniel and saved him from his accusers -- and lions.
God also was the constant refuge of the psalmist.
And the Lord's prayer teaches us to ask Him to deliver us from evil.
As deliverer, God intervenes in His own way and time...
And this tests our faith and causes us to wonder what He's up to.
But you can be confident He's at work for our good... in ways far beyond our comprehension.
And so it should become our habit to turn to Him... and trust Him... as our deliverer today.
The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer... (Ps.18:2)
