God is like a good project manager, determined and capable of seeing what He envisions come to fruition.
Does referring to God as a project manager seem a little too worldly?
Well follow my thinking on this...
In the beginning God made man in His image and gave him the project of filling the world and cultivating it.
Soon, sin entered the picture, making this culture-building effort defective and difficult.
But God didn't give up! And He promised a 'Seed' who would see the project through.
When Cain killed Abel, God still kept the project in mind... even protecting Cain and allowing him to be the first to build a city.
And when it seemed the wickedness among men was so great the project ought to be scrapped entirely, God washed the earth with a flood and started anew with Noah.
Eventually, God called Abraham and formed a nation, which was to bring the blessings of godly culture to the world.
This had some success -- like in the glory days of King Solomon.
But there were also generations when ungodliness prevailed under reprobate kings.
Centuries passed. And at the fitting time, God sent Jesus -- the Seed and King of kings -- to restore mankind and bring God's intended project to completion.
Yet even this involves a process taking time... as any big project does.
But we have reason to be encouraged as we're part of this process.
Since the coming of Christ, God has brought revivals and reformations that have moved the project of filling and subduing the earth forward.
And Jesus Himself taught us to keep praying His kingdom would come and His will would be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Today, many of those God has called to work with Him on this project have grown fearful and weary, and they'd like to escape to another world.
But God intends to see His original project through.
So He's now allowing us to experience what's called 'cancel culture' to get our attention.
And this ought to help us see the need to get busy, and take up the places He's given each of us in the project...
... living as the salt of the earth and the light of the world God created us to be in Christ.
And this we can do in confidence, knowing God -- the project manager -- will see His good work through.
'For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD as the waters cover the sea' (Hab.2:14).
