Keep steady my steps according to your promise, and let no iniquity get dominion over me (Ps.119:133).
The great Puritan Thomas Boston notes the day is coming when God's people will be absolute masters over the sin which has had dominion over them.
In other words... there will be a time when believers have complete rule over their spirits, affections and inclinations.
What good news! And it should encourage you in a couple of ways...
First, it ought to encourage you not to give up hope in your daily battles with sin.
No matter how defeated you may feel, if your faith is in Christ, you will end up in the win column... and fully transformed at that!
Second, this truth should encourage you to keep up your daily battles with sin.
If God intends you to have victory over the corruptions you see in your life, you should do all you can to experience that victory now.
And, it is by this you will have greater dominion in the world.
As Leonardo da Vinci put it:
"One can have no smaller or greater mastery than mastery of oneself."
