When the Pilgrims faced persecution in their homeland of England, they could have done a number of things besides sail the ocean...
They could have compromised their convictions to avoid mistreatment.
Or, they could have endured their situation the best they could while focusing on the afterlife.
Or they could have retreated to an inward faith that only applies to the safe, private realms of their existence.
But the Pilgrims didn't choose any of these options.
Instead, they risked everything in search of a new world where they could implement their faith without limits, even in public spheres...
And they did so because they refused to live less than what God intended for them as His people.
This bit of history about the Pilgrims makes them more than examples of gratitude at Thanksgiving.
It makes them an inspiration.
As the culture continues to pressure believers to surrender biblical truth, the Pilgrims remind us:
Genuine faith doesn't give up God's vision for the world.
Happy Thanksgiving.
