A friend has been wondering whether he should seek a religious exemption to avoid getting the shot his company insists he get.
For a number of reasons, my friend doesn't want to get the shot.
But he's struggling whether it's legitimate to ask for a religious exemption, because he's having a hard time seeing what getting the shot has to do with his faith.
Commend this brother for trying to live honestly with his convictions.
But he, like many so many today, could use an expanded view of how his faith applies in the world... because it applies everywhere.
Let's take the matter at hand...
... The question of who has authority over what is done to our bodies is ultimately a religious question.
... The responsibility to take care of ourselves in the way we think best also involves our faith.
... And, whether we have liberty of conscience to make our own decisions is rooted in beliefs.
So you see... someone's faith is surely a legitimate factor when it comes to the matter of getting an experimental shot...
Just like one's faith legitimately applies everywhere else in life...
Because in the end, everything is religious... cuz everything rests on convictions about ultimate beliefs.
This is why the Bible says... whatever you do, do it to the glory of God (1 Cor.10:31).
It's also why it tells us whatever you can't do in faith is sin (Rom.14:23).
Now before signing off, please note...
I'm writing this today not to give my opinion on THE SHOT.
My intent here is to encourage you to grow a larger vision of how far your faith applies in this world.
Because it pertains to every issue you face.
