If you follow military history at all you may be aware we are now in what's being called 'Fifth Generation Warfare.'
So what does that mean? And why does this matter to YOU?
Well, back in the old days of First Generation Warfare things were pretty straightforward...
Two armies would line up and fire their muskets at each other. Those who loaded the fastest and shot the straightest won.
Today, things are more complicated and subtle.
In Fifth Generation Warfare guns may never be fired... as the major weapons employed are misinformation and fear.
This type of warfare is now playing out every day among nations, news agencies, social media, and even once trusted government institutions.
It's happening all around us... and you are enmeshed in it, whether you like it or not.
What's interesting is that using misinformation and fear as primary battle tactics is not new.
These tactics go all the way back to the Garden of Eden.
There Satan used misinformation and the fear of missing out in his battle with Adam and Eve.
And today he continues to use lies and fear coupled with guilt and shame to demoralize and lead astray.
Now what's really fascinating is that Jesus spent much of His ministry presenting Himself as the antidote to this kind of warfare.
When you read the New Testament, Jesus always seemed to be giving some form of the exhortation "fear not."
And He regularly testified that the truth resided in Him.
So if you are confused by all the disinformation of our age... and if you are frightened about the future... you can do no better than follow Jesus.
This is the way of security. And it's the way to flourish too.
“I am the way and the truth and the life..." (Jn.14:6).
