One of the big negatives of living in an increasingly secular society is that you tend to feel powerless.
It's easy to see yourself as just a cog in a machine, grinding away every day, with little hope of bringing any positive effect or change with your life.
This -- of course -- goes against what God has designed for you.
As His image-bearers, God made us to create and develop for the good of the little portion of the world around us.
But how does this happen when you're feeling powerless?
By engaging the Holy Spirit.
God, who is Spirit, is all-powerful.
He is omnipotent.
And as the one who holds all power, He has given His people His Spirit -- which the Bible actually refers to as a spirit of power (Acts 1:8; 2 Tim.1:7).
Having received the Spirit, it's on us to take care not to quench Him or grieve Him, and instead walk in His holiness and power.
And, if you're in any way feeling deficient when it comes to the Spirit, you can ask God to fill you with Him.
So if you're feeling powerless, the place to start is to get re-oriented to the Spirit.
And never be hesitant to ask for the Spirit's help.
For it's by the Spirit God is creating a whole new world through His people.
