Fulfilling God's call to rule and cultivate your world for Him involves a lot of self-management.
And this includes the practical, everyday aspects of our lives -- like eating.
For example...
I've discovered I can't eat certain foods as a snack in the middle of the afternoon because they'll put me to sleep.
I love peanut butter and crackers with honey on top. But at 3 p.m. they're like anesthesia to me.
Eating too many other high-carb foods can affect me the same way. So I'm trying to avoid bread at lunch.
I mention this because I'm sure you have your own experiences along these lines...
There are certain foods or drinks you enjoy that don't really serve you well...
... they either put you to sleep or don't make you feel great.
And as a result, they sap your dominion efforts of energy and strength.
This puts a different twist on watching one's diet.
When people speak of keeping an eye on their diet, it's usually about managing their weight or overall health.
But a case can also be made for controlling what you eat or drink in order to maximize your vitality for God's kingdom.
As the Apostle Paul put it...
“All things are lawful, but not all things are helpful..." (1 Cor.10:23).
