No matter who you are, God has gifted you in some way to serve the world around you.
This is true if you're a shut-in in yours 80s or an active person in your 20s, or somewhere in between.
Now there are two dangers to keep in mind when it comes to gifts.
Think about how these might apply to you.
The first danger is to leave your gift unused or undeveloped.
This often happens with folks who think their gift is small and insignificant... like the man in the parable who refused to put his talent to work (Mt.25).
The other danger is to forget the gifts you have come from God.
This takes place because of pride. And it's dangerous in that unchecked pride will lead you to fall away from faithful living (Pr.16:18).
Now the way to protect yourself from both dangers is to remember God.
If you think God hasn't given you much of anything to contribute to the world, think again.
Pray, think, look around you. There is some way God intends to use you to bless others and advance His kingdom.
On the other hand, if you think highly of your gifts and you've become complacent or lost the fear of God because your gifts are moving you ahead in life, be careful.
Humble yourself. Remember where your gifts came from. And make sure your character keeps up with your giftedness.
And, something we all need to keep in mind no matter what our gifts:
It's by serving in the Spirit we bring His dominion to the world.
"As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another" (1 Peter 4:10).
