A couple days ago I saw a news clip about a young man who was elected homecoming queen at his high school.
When he was announced the winner and introduced as queen, the crowd applauded and cheered.
I suppose some cheered out of genuine excitement.
But I suspect a great many others did so out of a sense of obligation and social pressure...
...thinking that though what they were witnessing was strange, the proper thing to do was to give at least some outward sign of approval.
But is this right?
God made people male and female. Period.
No surgery or search for identity can change this.
From the time of our conception, He gave us all either an X chromosome or a Y chromosome... and with it a destiny of manhood or womanhood.
To deny this, is to deny reality. It's to live in a fantasy.
And worse, it encourages a deep rebellion against God and His created order.
So... how do you respond to a sexually confused culture like ours?
That's a challenging question, raising lots of issues about what love and truth requires I don't have space to go into here.
But for starters, going along with the sexual deviations of our day is ever right.
To do so only encourages the rebellion and confusion to continue... and to encourage this is not loving or kind.
Further...
The situation we face today calls us to do everything we can to help males understand what it means to be a man and females what it is to be a woman.
And we can only do this by turning to God and seeking his help.
... male and female he created them (Gen.1:27).
