There's an ongoing debate as to whether Christians ought to be concerned about the culture they're enmeshed in.
I believe they should... even essential... and here's why...
At the very beginning, God told Adam to 'cultivate and keep' the garden (Gen.2:15).
Within this command the Lord actually reveals how He intends mankind to develop a culture.
(In fact, the word culture is derived from cultivation!)
Culture was to start in the Garden of Eden, and extend itself from there.
At the Fall, culture-building became difficult and twisted... but man's inclination to create some kind of culture has never gone away...
... and with Jesus -- who is the second Adam -- the ability to create and develop a culture according to God's design was restored.
So the the existence of some culture is unavoidable.
The only question is, what kind of culture will it be?
Will it be a godly culture, based on the Lord and His Word?
Or will it be an ungodly culture, built on unbelief and the ideas of fallen men?
Another way to think about this is...
The condition of any culture reflects how faithful God's people have been at tending their world in their time.
