Whenever evil is on the rise you'll find people saying...
"The Lord's return must be near."
I understand the sentiment, but hearing it always makes me cringe...
Jesus made it clear no one knows the day nor the hour He'll come back (Mt.24:36).
He also told us we're to occupy until He comes -- not speculate about the timing of His return (Lk.19:13).
Further...
The Bible says He must reign until all His enemies are made a footstool for His feet (1 Cor.15:25)...
... and since He still has a lot of enemies, He's got more subduing to do.
To assume our cultural decline is a sign the end is nigh brings about a spirit of pessimism and passivity that leads to defeat.
It does NOT inspire one to conquer for Christ and disciple nations.
But, one may ask... isn't the decadence of our time a sign of something?
Sure.
It's a sign America is going the way of other nations that became proud and rejected the Lord.
And it shows it's way past time for us to repent and return to Him.
