When we hear the name Leonardo da Vinci we think of a master of
much.
He's best known for his painting, but da Vinci also excelled as an inventor, architect, sculptor, scientist, astronomer, musician, map maker, writer, and more.
So how is it that da Vinci had talent in so many areas?
I tend to think his secret lies in his understanding of dominion... which he conveys
here:
“You will never have a greater or lesser dominion than that over yourself...
...the height of a man's success is gauged by his self-mastery; the depth of his failure by his self-abandonment...
...And this law is the expression of eternal justice. He who cannot establish dominion over himself will
have no dominion over others.”
Master Leonardo's insight still applies today.
If you want to maximize your talents -- and your contribution to the world -- you first have to rule yourself.
