Ever look at the moon and stars and feel puny in
comparison?
If so, you’re in good company.
Because the psalmist felt the same way:
“When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have set in place, what is man that You are mindful of him…?“(Ps. 8:3-4).
In other words… the
psalmwriter wonders… in light of all the marvels of creation, how is it that God gives mankind much thought at all?
But the psalmist doesn’t stop there.
He goes on to answer his own question about the place of man in the world…
“You have made him a little lower than the angels, and You have crowned him with glory and honor. You have
made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands. You have put all things under his feet” (Ps. 8:5-6).
So… though looking into the heavens might cause you to feel small and insignificant…
God, in fact, has created us to to be little kings and queens… and designed us to rule over all that He has made.
Put another
way…
He made us to work as co-regents with Him.
Think on that next time you look into the starry night.
