"We are the times"

We're used to hearing, "We live in tough times."

And, in many ways this is true.

But what makes the times?

The people living in them do.

I love St. Augustine's take on this:

"Bad times, hard times, this is what people keep saying; but let us live well, and times shall be good. We are the times: Such as we are, such are the times."
